
Twenty-Four SU Football Players Named To Fall 2000 Athletic Directors Honor Roll

Sixteen of the 24 student-athletes were repeat honorees. Senior defensive end Clifford Snell (Worcester, MA/St. Peter Marian) was named to the list for the sixth time. Junior offensive tackle PJ Alexander (Tallahassee, FL/Lincoln), junior Ben Kozik (Adams, MA/Hoosic Valley) and junior offensive guard Sean OConnor (Morristown, NJ/Morristown) made their fifth appearance on the list. Junior punter Chris Bokel (Reston, VA/South Lakes) and senior tight end Aaron Lewis (Bayview, TX/Clear Creek) were four-time honorees.
Six student-athletes made the list for the third time. Junior defensive end Sheldon King (Swedesboro, NJ/Kingsboro), junior punter Charles Messano (Little Silver, NJ/Seton Hall Prep), redshirt freshman center Nick Romeo (Tarpon Springs, FL/East Lake), redshirt freshman linebacker Rich Scanlon (Oradell, NJ/Bergen Catholic), redshirt freshman Josh Thomas (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) and junior quarterback Madei Williams (Pittsburgh, PA/Woodland Hills) were three-time honorees.
Senior cornerback Andrew Benson (Providence, RI/The Wheeler School), redshirt freshman fullback Lenny Cusumano (Little Falls, NJ/Passaic Valley), junior free safety Quentin Harris (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Wyoming Seminary) and junior tight end Graham Manley (Olney, MD/Sherwood) made their second appearance on the list.
First-time honorees included senior fullback Brandon Bowman (San Antonio, TX/Santa Monica JC), junior cornerback William (B.J.) Darnell (Paducah, KY/Foothill (CA) College), junior fullback Chris Davis (Tampa, FL/Hillsborough), senior tight end Jeremie Frazier (Haviland, KA/Garden City (KA) CC), senior defensive tackle Mark Holtzman (McKeesport, PA/McKeesport), junior cornerback Will Hunter (Chester, PA/Chester), sophomore offensive tackle Shane LaVigne (Plattsburgh, NY/Seton Catholic) and freshman offensive lineman Matt Tarullo (Albany, NY/Colonie).
Eleven students achieved grade point averages of 3.4 or higher. Alexander, Benson, Bowman, Harris, Hunter, King, Manley, Romeo, Scanlon, Tarullo and Thomas were recognized for their efforts at the Syracuse-Connecticut mens basketball game on February 19 at the Carrier Dome.
The Orangemen were 6-5 in 2000.
