Sophomore guard Jonny Flynn (www.suathletics.com/jonny) earned an honorable mention spot on the Associated Press All-American team announced this week.
Flynn led the Orange into the "Sweet 16" of the NCAA Tournament before the 2008-09 campaign came to a close with an 84-71 loss to Oklahoma. SU finished with a 28-10 record.
A candidate for the John R. Wooden and Bob Cousy awards, Flynn led the Orange in scoring (17.4), assist (6.7), steal (1.4) and minutes-played (37.3) averages. He played and started all 38 games for the Orange, equaling a school record in both categories.
He was a second-team All-BIG EAST Conference selection and received the Dave Gavitt Award as BIG EAST Conference Tournament MVP after helping the Orange into the championship game against Louisville.
