
Orangewomen Lose at No. 13/12 Rutgers, 64-53

Rutgers (16-5, 8-2) led by six, 23-17, with 2:37 left in the first half before Moore led Syracuse (10-10-4-6) on a 7-0 scoring run to take a one-point lead with 55 seconds remaining. Moore scored four points during the run, including the basket that gave SU the lead. However, Rutgers took the lead for good on Mauri Hortons three-pointer with 26 seconds remaining that gave Rutgers a 26-24 halftime lead.
In the second half, Rutgers used a 14-5 scoring run to take a 47-35 lead with 11:14 remaining. The Scarlet Knights continued to build their lead, gaining their largest margin of 16 with a minute left in regulation. The Orange scored seven straight points to cut the lead to 62-53 with 29.8 seconds remaining, but that was as close as SU could get.
Moore was 6-for-8 from the field and 3-for-3 from the free throw line, and Leaf Newman (Perris, CA) added 13 points off the bench. Senior Leigh Aziz (Auburn, NY) led SUs efforts on the boards with 11 rebounds. Tammy Sutton-Brown led Rutgers with 15 points, and Tasha Pointer had 13 points and 10 rebounds.
The Orangewomen will be back in action on Saturday at Villanova
