"Our goal this and every year during Spring practice is to have each player become more fundamentally sound and for everyone to see what their role on the team, on offense, defense and special teams is," said head coach Paul Pasqualoni after the first day of Spring practice. "We look at it as re-building every players toolbox. Whether they are a true freshman, a redshirt freshman or an oder guy, everybody goes back to basics. We also try to put in the base concepts of our offense and defense during this time."
Six Orangemen have changed positions for Spring practice, including Barry Baker, who moved back to the offensive side of the ball from linebacker to running back after enrolling at SU as a running back. In addition, Troy Swittenburg (tailback to cornerback), Greg Hanoian (fullback to linebacker) and Tre Mathis (offensive line to defensive tackle) have switched sides of the ball. Two Orangemen moved positions within the offense, includine Jared Jones, who moved to wide receiver from quarterback and Lenny Cusumano, who made the transition from fullback to tight end.
