
Orangewomen Rowers Make NCAA Semifinals

The Syracuse varsity eight, coxswained by Heather DiLoreto (East Amherst, NY), crossed the finish line in 6:31.19. The University of Michign won the heat finishing in 6:28.09. Senior and captain, Katie Modolo (St. Catherines, Ontario) powered the Orange's boat from the seventh seat, while junior Alicea Kochis (Naugatuck, CT) rowed in the sixth seat.
The Orangewomen will row in one of the two semifinal heats on Friday. Washington, the alma mater of SU head rowing coach Kris Sanford, won its heat and will race in the semifinals. Other teams in the semifinals are Brown, Princeton and Southern California. Brown won its heat, while Princeton and Southern California placed second in theirs.
The pool of semifinalists will be completed Thursday afternoon when the
two repechages are raced. The top six boats from the semifinals will
race Saturday for the varsity eight national championship.
