
Orange Track & Field Ready for BIG EAST Championship

Sophomore Tim Adrian (Moorpark, CA) leads a strong group of throwers. Adrian currently owns the second-best shot put in the conference (54'11.25") and the third-longest discus throw in the BIG EAST (173'3"). He is reached the league qualifying standard in the hammer throw.
Classmate Steve Bedard (Windsor, Ontario) is also qualified for the conference championship in the shot put, discus and hammer throw. Senior Alex Brown (New Paltz, NY) will be making his final BIG EAST appearance in both the shot put and the discus. Bedard and Brown are ranked eight and ninth, respectively, in the conference in the shot put.
On the women's side junior Tara Trammell (Constantia, NY) reached the league's qualifying standards in the shot put and discus.
Junior sprinter Alison Culley (Foxborough, MA) is among the league's best in two events. Culley owns the second-fasted 100-meter dash time with a school-record 11.69. She has also run the sixth-best 200-meter dash, clocking a 24.31.
Senior Opal Jones (Capitol Heights, MD) will also challenge for a BIG EAST championship. Jones, an all-league performer indoors, is ranked second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.76. Junior Stacyann Dwyer (Huntington Station, NY) is also among the league's best in the hurdles. Dwyer has the sixth-best 400-meter hurdle time, running a 1:01.76.
Sophomore Joel Carusone (Slingerland, NY), an All-BIG EAST pole vaulter during the indoor season, and classmate Richard Polidore (Chino, CA) round out the Orangemen's top-10 performers. Carusone's season-best pole vault of 15'9" ranks seventh in the league, while Polidore 100-meter dash time of 10.79 is tied for seventh.
Sophomore Sean Burnett (Uniondale, NY) reached the conference qualifying standards in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes. Sophomore Sam Prescod (Bridgetown, Barbados) also qualified in two events, the high jump and javelin.
The meet begins on Friday, May 4 with the decathlon and the heptathlon. The final event will be the 4x400-meter relay on Sunday, May 6.
