Brown was a second-team All-BIG EAST selection following his senior season. He ranked second on the team with a 16.4 points per game scoring average, and led the Orangemen with 8.8 rebounds per game.
Brown finished second in the conference with 16 double-doubles (points and rebounds). He was second only to Seton Hall's Eddie Griffin (21), who was selected with the seventh pick in the draft.
Brown helped the Orangemen to their 27th NCAA Tournament appearance and a 25-9 overall record in 2000-01. He is the third Orangemen to be selected in the past two seasons. Etan Thomas was a first-round pick of the Dallas Mavericks and Jason Hart was taken in the second round by the Milwaukee Bucks in 2000.
