In 2000, Syracuse won six of its last eight regular season games to qualify for the BIG EAST Championship. In the semifinals, the Orangewomen lost in overtime to eventual champion Connecticut, 1-0. This year, preseason All-BIG EAST selections Kristin Aronowicz (Exton, PA), Michelle Aronowicz (Exton, PA) and Audrey Latsko (Emmaus, PA) will lead the Orangewomen.
Latsko and Kristin Aronowicz were each unanimous selections to the preseason All-BIG EAST Team. Latsko, a third-team All-American in 2000, was the only goalie represented on the preseason all-star list. She led the BIG EAST Conference in goals against average last year with a 1.14 mark.
The Aronowicz sisters combined for 20 goals and 44 points last season. They were responsible for nearly 48 percent of SU's goals in 2000. Kristin, who will be a junior, led the team in scoring (11 goals). Michelle, a senior captain, was third in scoring with nine goals.
