SYRACUSE, N.Y. – After one of the best seasons in program history, Syracuse University field hockey All-American Bo van Kempen was named a finalist for the CWSA Honda Sports Award. The Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) announced its four finalists Tuesday afternoon.
Van Kempen, an NFHCA First Team All-American and NFHCA Mideast Region Player of the Year, becomes the fourth player in Syracuse program history to be named as a Honda Sports Award Finalist, joining 2015 winner Alyssa Manley, Shannon Taylor (2008), and Julie Williamson (1994).
Hailing from Zevanaar, Netherlands, van Kempen played and started in all 20 games for the Orange this season and was one of the nation's most elite goal scorers, striking 23 times and ranking fifth in Division I with a 1.15 goals per game average. She was also tied nationally with 2.65 points per game thanks to an additional seven assists. Her 53 points were the fourth-most by any player in the country this year.
In 2025, van Kempen scored four goals during the postseason, including two against No. 4 Virginia (Nov. 6) and once each against No. 6 Liberty (Nov. 14) and No. 3 Princeton (Nov. 16). Van Kempen scored five times on six penalty stroke attempts during the season, converting seven times on eight chances in her Syracuse career.
