Koster Named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week

SYRACUSE, NY - Syracuse freshman volleyball player Laura Koster (Houston, TX/Westfield) was named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week in the first weekly conference report.
Koster earned all-tournament honors as Syracuse went 2-2 in the Orange Invitational held at Manley Field House last weekend. The middle blocker reached double digits in kills in three of the four matches, including 23 against Northeastern. Her top performance came in the last match of the tournament against Fairfield where she posted 21 kills and committed only two hitting errors, good for a .463 hitting percentage. She also served up four aces in that game and combined for eight total blocks, seven assisted. She leads the SU squad with 63 kills and a .392 hitting percentage.
The Orangewomen’s next competition is the War Eagle Tournament held at Auburn University in Auburn, AL. SU opens play on Sat., Sept. 8 with two matches. They face Charlotte at 10 a.m. and Auburn at 7 p.m.
