McDonough Sets a School Record in the 200 IM at Connecticut

McDonough's effort in the 200 individual medley was .06 seconds faster than the former school record of 2:06.00, set in 1979 by Robin Butler. Sophomores Annie Tudryn (Springfield, Mass./ Cathedral), Megan Daney (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock) and freshman Lisa Fong (Olympia, Wash./Olympia) joined McDonough in winning the medley relay. Tudryn also won the 200 breaststroke in a pool-record time of 2:17.69. Daney placed first in the 200 backstroke (2:07.31).
On the men's side, senior Djordje Filipovic (Belgrade, Yugoslavia) was the victor in the 200 butterfly with the team's fastest time of the year (1:52.83). Freshman Josh Scott (Clayton, Calif./Clayton Valley) swam the Orangemen's fastest time of the year in the 1,000 freestyle (9:51.45), and classmate Gustavo Kertzscher (Skurup, Sweden/Osterportskolan) won the 200 individual medley (1:57.94). The 400 medley relay squad of Kertzscher, sophomore Spencer Raymond (Idstein, Germany/Singapore American School) and freshmen A.J. Newman (Narromine, Australia/Narromine) and Mike Anstrom (Springfield, Va./ Lake Braddock), captured first in 3:32.10.
The Orange men and women take to the road for their final dual meet of the season. On February 2, they will compete at Seton Hall before the BIG EAST Championships on February 21-23.
