
Orangewomen Look To Continue Winning Ways On The Road

The Syracuse University women’s volleyball team looks to extend its three-match winning streak this weekend against BIG EAST opponents Villanova and Georgetown.
Head coach Jing Pu currently has 299 career wins, including 160 at Syracuse. Pu accumulated 86 victories in three years at the California University of Pennsylvania, 53 wins in two years at Central Connecticut State and 160 in seven plus years at Syracuse.
The Orangewomen (13-6, 2-2 BIG EAST) won three matches in three days on the road last weekend, including their first two BIG EAST wins of the season. SU defeated both Seton Hall and Rutgers in five games.
Freshman Kristen Conway (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) was named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week on Monday, Oct. 7. Conway recorded a career-high 25 kills against Seton Hall, committing only six errors on 53 attempts for a .358 attack percentage. The outside hitter collected her fourth career double-double against Rutgers with 13 kills and 16 digs.
Syracuse faces Villanova (9-12, 0-2 BIG EAST) on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 2 p.m in Jake Nevin Field House. The Orangewomen lead the series, 15-10-2, including last year’s 3-1 victory. The Wildcats are on a six-match losing slide.
On Sunday, Oct. 13, SU plays Georgetown in McDonough Gym at 1 p.m. The Hoyas lead in the series, 15-14, and have won the last five contests. The Hoyas (12-7, 3-1 BIG EAST) extended their winning streak to three matches on Tuesday evening, October 8, with a 3-0 win against George Washington University.
