
Modolo Returns To Orangewomen

Former Orangewoman Kate Modolo returns to Syracuse as a graduate assistant coach for the rowing team. Modolo, a two-time second-team All-American, will assist in all aspects of the program.
Modolo was the first rower at Syracuse to make the varsity boat all four years under head coach Kris Sanford. As a senior co-captain in 2001, Modolo rowed in the varsity eight boat that finished sixth at the NCAA Championship, third at the Eastern Sprints, first at the BIG EAST Rowing Challenge and posted an 8-0 regular-season record. She also rowed in the 2000 NCAA Championship and received first-team all-regional honors for the second straight year.
A native of St. Catharine’s, Ontario, Modolo was a a member of the 1997 Canadian Junior National Team. She was named St. Catharine’s Rowing Club Intermediate Oarswoman of the Year in 1997 and Junior Oarswoman of the Year in 1996. She also received the Jack Guest Award for Canadian Sculler of the Year in 1996.
Modolo is working toward her master’s degree in public relations at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. She received her bachelor’s degree in pyschology in the spring of 2001.
