Senior midfielder Kristin Aronowicz (Exton, Pa./Downingtown) scored SU's lone goal in a 3-1 loss at William and Mary Friday evening. The Orangewomen were outshot, 20-3, on the night.
William and Mary led 1-0 with a goal scored right before halftime by Ann Ekborg. It was her 18th goal of the season.
Aronowicz tied the game 1-1 on a penalty corner with her seventh goal of the season at the 43:18 mark. She was assisted by sophomore forwards Ann-Marie Guglieri (Carmel, N.Y./Carmel) and Meredith Gettel (Rehresburg, Pa./Tulpehocken).
For Aronowicz, it marked her 40th career goal. She is just the third player in school history to tally 40 goals during her career. She is fourth on the SU all-time scoring list with 91 points. She needs four more points to become the school's all-time leading scorer.
Kristen Southerland registered what proved to be the game-winning goal for the Tribe a little more than five minutes later. Jill Hocutt put the game out of reach for the Orangewomen at 58:54.
Senior goalkeeper Audrey Latsko (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) finished with nine saves. Claire Miller stopped one shot for William and Mary.
Syracuse is 10-9 on the season. William & Mary improved to 10-7. The Orangewomen play their last regular-season game at Richmond on Sunday, Nov. 3, at 1 p.m.
