
Syracuse Seeks Sixth-Straight Win Saturday Against Georgia Tech

Georgia Tech (5-2) is coming off an 88-66 win against Troy State on Dec. 17. The team’s only two losses have been by one point, against Minnesota (64-63) and Tennessee (70-69). The loss to the Volunteers was decided by a last-second shot from just across half court.
Paul Hewitt, now in his third season at the Yellow Jackets’ helm, has a 38-41 record with the team. Sophomore guard B.J. Elder is averaging a squad-leading 17.2 points per game. Freshman forward Chris Bosh is averaging 15.1 points and 10.9 rebounds an outing.
Freshman forward Carmelo Anthony leads the Orangemen with an average of 24.8 points and 10.0 boards per game. Sophomore Hakim Warrick is averaging 15.5 points and 8.7 caroms per contest, while senior Kueth Duany has scored an average of 14.0 points per game.
The Marines will be collecting Toys for Tots at the game. Saturday is also WIXT Family Fun Day. Pre-game activities will be held in the backcourt area, including performances by Irish dancers and Tearney’s Karate. Spiderman will be making animal balloons and there will be free face painting for the kids. Santa Claus will also be making an appearance.
Fans can listen to the game in the Syracuse area on the SU Radio Network, 1260 AM. Voice of the Orange Mark Johnson will handle the play-by-play duties, while Matt Park will provide color commentary. The game will also be televised on ESPN, with Sean McDonough and Len Elmore calling the plays.
