
Jones Takes Hurdle Title at ECAC Championship

BOSTON, Mass. - Senior Opal Jones (Capitol Heights, Md./Bishop McNamara) tied a school record and won the 60-meter hurdles at the 2002 ECAC Indoor Track & Field Championship at the Reggie Lewis Center on Sunday, March 3.
Jones raced ahead of the field, finishing in a personal-best time of 8.34 that tied Veronica Dyer's school-record time in 2000.
Freshman Jenna Grimaldi (San Mateo, Calif./St. Ignatius) tied for third in the high jump, clearing 5?7.75?. Classmate Johvonne Hernandez (Port Isabel, Texas/Port Isabel) placed fourth in the shot put with a career-best throw of 48'4.50". Fellow frosh Nicole Kendrick (Lancaster, Ohio/Lancaster) took eighth in the shot with an effort of 46'2.50".
Junior Aprelle Watkins (Virginia Beach, Va./Salem) placed eighth in the long jump with a distance of 18'8.00".
In the men's IC4A Championship, junior Richard Polidore (Chino, Calif./Chino) placed third in the long jump with a career-best distance of 23'10.75".
