Pasch-ion Play: Loud Crowd Provides Inspiration for Orange

Syracuse's first round NIT game against Saint Bonaventure last week featured one of the better Carrier Dome atmospheres this year. The fans who attended were indeed the die-hards, and they weren’t afraid to exude that loyalty. They were loud, they were energetic, and they were passionate. They also stood up, as I doubt people were told to sit down by fans sitting behind them. There may have only been 5,000 or so people on hand, but it was a fun atmosphere. The Saint Bona contingency also made it exciting. Monday’s game could be just the same, if not better considering the students will be back from spring break. The University has even reserved sections 106 and 107 for the students who won’t get back from break until Sunday night.
I felt for the first time in a while, and many of the players assured me I was correct, that the team really fed off the crowd’s enthusiasm. There doesn’t have to be 30,000 every night to make the Dome a spirited building, especially if the great fans who showed up last week are there again this Monday as the Orangemen host Butler in the second round of the NIT. Won’t you join them?
