
Orangewomen Play Colgate in SU Lacrosse Doubleheader

The eighth-ranked Orangewomen play the first game of a Syracuse lacrosse doubleheader against Colgate on Wednesday, March 27 at 5:30 p.m. The men?s lacrosse team plays Hobart in the second game at 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday?s game marks the fifth meeting between Syracuse and Colgate women's lacrosse. The eighth-ranked Orangewomen are 4-0 against the Raiders. The Orangewomen defeated Colgate, 17-4, last year.
Syracuse went 2-0 last weekend, including a 10-9 victory against conference opponent Boston College. Sophomore Danielle Lillis (West Islip, NY/West Islip) gave SU its largest lead against BC, 8-3, with an unassisted tally. The Eagles would then score six goals in the second period, coming within one, 9-8, with two minutes left in the game. Senior tri-captain Carrie Soults (Washington DC/Georgetown Day) scored the final two goals of the game to seal the win.
Junior Jessica Trombley (Kueka Park/Penn Yan Academy) tallied a career-high four points to lead the Orangewomen to a 13-5 win against Massachusetts on Sunday, March 24. Junior Kim Wayne (Scarsdale, NY/Scarsdale) dished out a season-high five assists, while senior Devon Baer (Norristown, PA/Plymouth, Whitemarsh) scored a personal-best two goals.
Wayne was named BIG EAST Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, March 25 after tallying seven points in the last two games. Wayne, Soults and sophomore attacker Leigh-Ann Zimmer (Farmingdale, NY/Farmingdale) are among the top ten in the BIG EAST in scoring. Wayne is first on the team in the conference with 23 points (10 goals, 13 assists), Zimmer is tied for fourth with 12 goals and seven assists and Soults is seventh (15 goals, three assists)
After opening the season against Stanford with her first collegiate goal, freshman Courtney Palladino (Syracuse, NY/Christian Brothers Academy) returned to the scoring column with a tally in the Boston College game. Junior Ellen Rust (Camillus, NY/West Genesee) notched her first career goal against BC, and in her first start for SU, sophomore Cristine Doran (Corning, NY/Corning) tallied her first collegiate point with an assist versus the Eagles.
