Filipovic Finishes Career Strong at 2002 NCAA Championship

Senior Djordje Filipovic (Belgrade, Yugoslavia) competed in three events at the 2002 NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championship, March 28-30, at the University of Georgia's Gabrielsen Natatorium. Filipovic, the BIG EAST Champion in the 200 individual medley, the 100 butterfly and the 200 butterfly, swam in the same three events in Georgia. It was his second consecutive season appearing at the national meet.
On Thursday, March 28, Filipovic was 43rd out of 46 swimmers in the prelims of the 200 individual medley. His time was 1:50.94.
In the preliminaries of the 100 butterfly on Friday, March 29, Filipovic finished 41st with a time of :49.79.
On the NCAA's final morning of competition (March 30), Filipovic was 32nd in the preliminaries of the 200 butterfly, his best event. Filipovic swam the race, his last as a Syracuse Orangeman, in a time of 1:49.08.
