Syracuse women’s lacrosse player Carrie Soults (Washington, DC/Georgetown Day School) was selected as a "Player to Watch" for the women's second-annual Tewaaraton Trophy.
The Tewaaraton Trophy is presented annually following the collegiate season to the top female and male lacrosse players in the country. Scholarship money is given to the award recipient’s college or university general scholarship fund.
Soults, a senior tri-captain, leads the SU team in goals with seven after two games. She was named a preseason first-team All-American by Inside Lacrosse Magazine and Preseason Defensive Player of the Year by the BIG EAST.
Twelve of the top female and male collegiate players in the United States and additional “players to watch” are nominated as candidates for the award. Tewaaraton, the Mohawk nation’s name for lacrosse, is the ancestor of the present-day game.
The No. 7 Orangewomen (2-0) play their first home game on Sunday, March 10 against fifth-ranked Maryland at 1 p.m. in the Carrier Dome.
