Orangewomen Race Northeastern, Pennsylvania On Charles River

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The eighth-ranked Syracuse University women's rowing team races against Northeastern and the University of Pennsylvania on the Charles River in Boston on Saturday, April 13. Northeastern comes into the race ranked 19th, while Pennsylvania is unranked.
The Orangewomen are coming off their first dual-race loss since April of 2000 (a win streak spanning 712 days). They placed second at Yale last Saturday. Changes have been made to the varsity eight lineup as SU prepares to race in Boston. Alicea Kochis (Naugatuck, Conn./Naugatuck HS) serves as the stroke. Rachael Kirchhoff (Juneau, Alaska/ Juneau-Douglas HS) moves into the seven seat. Seana Miller (West Redding, Conn./Joel-Barlow HS) moves from the junior varsity eight boat to the six seat in the varsity boat. Freshman Kelly McGrorey (West Chester, Pa.) moves from the three seat to the five seat. Nicole Garofalo (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool HS) is in the four seat, with Shannon Mercurio (Saranac Lake, N.Y./Corcoran HS) is in the three seat. Two-time first-team All-American Jillian Kott (Round Hill, Va./Kent School) is in the two seat and Bonnie Chapman (Gainesville, Fla./Eastside HS) remains in the bow seat.
