
Track & Field Tunes Up For ECAC/IC4A at JMU This Weekend

The lone competitor for SU on Friday is junior Zelma Jackson (Aurora, Colo./Randolph HS/Barton County CC), who will run in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at 8 p.m.
Five student-athletes will represent SU in the field events on Saturday. Freshmen Johvonne Hernandez (Port Isabel, Texas/Port Isabel HS) and Nicole Kendrick (Lancaster, Ohio/Lancaster HS) will both compete in the shot put. Hernandez will also compete in the hammer throw, while Kendrick will throw the discus. Junior Richard Polidore (Chino, Calif./Chino HS) will long jump and classmate Sam Prescod (Bridgetown, Barbados/Harrison HS) will throw the discus. Freshman Tatiana Warren (Brooklyn, N.Y./Clara Barton HS) rounds out the SU contingent of field competitors in the triple jump.
In the running events, junior Sean Burnett (Uniondale, N.Y./Uniondale HS) and freshman Valerie Boling (Denver, Colo./George Washington HS) will look to qualify for the ECAC/IC4A Championship in the 100 and 200-meter dashes. Warren will run in the 200 as well. Sophomore LaNae Walker (Dallas, Texas/DeSoto HS) and freshman Chris Telesford (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Ford HS) will both compete in the 400-meter hurdles. Freshman Leah Folmsbee (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake HS) will run in the 1,500 and 3000-meter races.
