No. 10 Varsity Eight Posts 15.1-Second Victory

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Syracuse University women's team won all five races against the University of Massachusetts and Villanova University on Saturday, May 4, on Onondaga Lake.
The Orangewomen's 10th-ranked varsity eight crossed the finish line 15.1 seconds ahead of second-place Massachusetts. SU finished in 6:39.8. Villanova placed third in 7:03.6. With the win the Orangewomen retain the Orange Plus Cup for the third consecutive year.
Syracuse's junior varsity eight finished 20 seconds ahead of second-place Massachusetts. The Orangewomen finished in 7:07.3. Syracuse's varsity four A placed first in the varsity four race, with SU's varsity four B taking second. The Orange's novice eight won its race in 7:22.0, 20.2 seconds ahead of second-place Massachusetts and 28.4 seconds ahead of third-place Villanova. SU closed the day with a win in the second novice/third varsity eight race.
Today's races were the last home competition for seniors Heather DiLoreto (East Amherst N.Y./Mercyhurst Prep), Libby Graves (Holden, Mass./St. Mark's HS), Rachael Kirchhoff (Juneau, Alaska/Juneau-Douglas HS), Jordan Brophy-Hilton (Los Gatos, Calif./ Los Gatos HS), Erin Gallagher (Upper Darby, Pa./Archbishop Pendergast HS), Christine Getzler (Naperville, Ill./Takapuna Grammar School, New Zealand), Kristen Hammill (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Baldwinsville HS), Louise Hendrickson (San Francisco, Calif./Lowell HS), Alicea Kochis (Naugatuck, Conn./Naugatuck HS), Jillian Kott (Round Hill, Va./Kent School) and Odette Mitchell-Servilio (Park Ridge, N.J./Park Ridge HS).
The Orangewomen head to the Eastern Sprints, next Sunday, May 12, on the Cooper River in Camden, N.J.
