Former SU Standout Joins SU Athletics Department Staff

Scott Freeney was appointed as the Coordinator of Academic Support Services for Football at Syracuse University, according to head coach Paul Pasqualoni. A four-year football letterwinner, Freeney graduated from Syracuse in 1997. He earned a master’s degree in higher education administration from Purdue University in 1999.
For the past three years, Freeney was an assistant coach and the assistant life skills coordinator for St. Cloud State University. Prior to that, he was a graduate assistant coach at Purdue from 1997-2000.
Freeney started all 22 games at linebacker his first two years with the Orangemen before moving to the defensive line. In his final two seasons, he helped lead SU to victories in the 1996 Gator Bowl and 1996 Liberty Bowl.
