
Syracuse Hosts Rhode Island on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

The Orangemen will try for their first win of the season when they host the Rhode Island Rams on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at the Carrier Dome. Syracuse is 0-2, while Rhode Island has a 1-1 record. Saturday is "Take A Kid to the Game" Day and Youth Group Day. A special pre-game ceremony will take place to mark the anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks.
Syracuse had its seven-game home winning streak snapped last week in a 30-22 loss to North Carolina. Sophomore Walter Reyes rushed for a career-high 86 yeards and a touchdown on 12 carries.
More than 5,000 tickets have been distributed to military troops and their families from the 10th Mountain Division from Fort Drum, including the Elite Force that went to Afghanistan, and the 174th Fighter Wing at Hancock Field.
A "Hero's Welcome" pre-game ceremony will begin 30 minutes prior to kickoff with the SU Marching Band's "Tribute to America". A moment of silence will be observed just prior to the game with both teams on the field. The colors will be presented by the Fort Drum color guard and the National Anthem will be performed by Sergeant Jeff Manford. In addition, members of the Fort Drum Pop Warner football league will be on the field to welcome the Orangemen.
The SU Marching Band's "Tribute to America" will continue at halftime.
In addition to the activities marking the anniversary of September 11, Saturday is "Take A Kid to the Game" Day and Youth Group Day. All youth tickets (age 18 and under) are $5. The "Tostitos Family Fun Zone", located at Hendricks Field, will open at 12:30 p.m SU mascot Otto the Orange will greet fans in the "Tostitos Family Fun Zone" from 1:30 - 2:45 p.m. The 1952 Syracuse football team will be honored at halftime, celebrating the 50th anniversary of its trip to the Orange Bowl.
