KALAMAZOO, MI -Freshman Jessica Logan (Bloomington, IL/Bloomington) led the Syracuse women’s volleyball team with 18 total kills in the Orangewomen’s two losses to South Florida and Western Michigan in the Radission Invitational on Friday, September 20.
SU (9-3) lost to South Florida, 3-0, and Western Michigan, 3-2. Western Michigan (3-7) edged Syracuse in the fifth and deciding game, 16-14. SU won the second and fourth games both by scores of 31-29 to force a final game.
Logan recorded eight kills against South Florida (9-3) and 10 versus Western Michigan. Senior co-captain Abby Van Mater (West Cheseter, PA/Unionville) added five kills in the South Florida match and nine against Western Michigan.
Junior Michaela Skelly (Simi Valley, CA/Royal) recorded a double-double against Western Michigan with 18 assists and 18 digs. Junior co-captain Christen Casey (Long Beach, IN/Marquette) joined Skelly in double figures with 10 digs versus the Bulls.
South Florida combined for a .380 attack percentage, while Syracuse recorded a .067 hitting percentage. In the afternoon match, Western Michigan was strong at the net, outblocking Syracuse, 16-6.
Syracuse returns to action on Saturday, when it faces Wisconsin-Milwaukee at 4:30 p.m. in the Orangewomen’s final match in the Radisson Invitational.
