SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse cross country teams are set to host their first meet since the 2000 season with Saturday’s Orange Classic. Men’s and women’s teams from Binghamton, Hamilton, LeMoyne, Niagara, Plattsburgh State, and St. Rose will compete at Drumlins Golf Course, September 21, with the men's race beginning at 10 a.m., and the women’s race beginning at 11 a.m. The 2001 meet was cancelled due to the events of September 11.
The Orangemen are led this year by sophomore Tim Scarpinato (Croghan, N.Y./Beaver River) who took third place at the Blue Devil Invitational earlier this season.
The women’s team will likely be paced by senior Aleccia Boland (London, Ont./Banting HS) who had the top time for an Orangewoman at the Blue Devil Invitational, finishing seventh overall.
This weekend’s meet features teams from Division I, II and III schools. Team results will be broken down, with Syracuse stacking up against Binghamton and Niagara, and the rest matching up against each other. Individual results will not be broken up by division.
