
Syracuse Wins Fifth Straight, 3-0, Against Niagara

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Orangewomen volleyball team won its fifth consecutive match, and its 11th straight in the series, with a 3-0 decision against Niagara, 30-17, 30-18, 30-20. Syracuse improves to 12-6 on the year, while the Purple Eagles are now 3-13.
Five Orangewomen recorded at least seven kills, and five also hit better than .345. Sophomore Jessica Logan led the Orange with nine kills on 26 attempts and no errors for a hitting percentage of .346. She also recorded 11 digs and four service aces. Juniors Ashley Kimes and Morgan Jones, sophomore Kristen Conway and freshman Erin McQuillin each recorded seven kills. Conway and classmates Kelly Duan and Kathryn Dercher hit a team-best .667. Kimes recorded a .357 hitting percentage. Senior Christen Casey surrendered her libero jersey to classmate Michaela Skelly, and Casey recorded her first service ace of the season, as well as two kills on nine attempts, in the third game. Casey also tied the team high with 11 digs. Dercher finished with 25 assists and eight digs.
SU's defense forced the Purple Eagles into hitting .017, including four players with negative percentages. Erin Graham posted nine kills and 11 digs. Libero Michole Daluisio had 17 digs, and Anne Nugent dug 10 balls. Jessica Piscitelli recorded 13 assists and seven digs, while Jennifer Hansford posted 11 assists.
Syracuse returns to action on Friday, Oct. 3, in a non-conference match at Central Connecticut State. The Orange return to BIG EAST action at Connecticut and St. John's on Saturday and Sunday.
