In 2001, SU student-athletes collected more than $10,000 for the United Way September 11th Fund on September 22 prior to SU's game against Auburn. In 2002 Orangemen and Orangewomen raised $5,525 for the cause.
Dollar Days at the Dome is just one of many community service projects SU student-athletes are involved with in this area. At SU’s football game against Boston College on October 18, student-athletes will distribute AFCA Child Identification Kits to fans in the Carrier Dome.
For each of the past six years, Syracuse University Chancellor Kenneth Shaw has recognized SU's student-athletes with the Chancellor's Award for Public Service because of their involvement in the Syracuse community.
