2004 Men's Lacrosse Schedule Announced

The Syracuse University men's lacrosse team will play at home six times and venture away from the Carrier Dome on seven occasions in 2004. The upcoming spring schedule features regular-season games on the road against defending national champion Virginia on March 6, and a rematch against Johns Hopkins on March 20. The Blue Jays knocked SU out of contention last season in the NCAA semifinals, 19-8.
The Orangemen will play two scrimmages in February. They will host Navy on Feb. 14, and then travel to College Park, Md. on Feb. 21, to face Maryland, a final four participant last year.
The official season opener is scheduled for Feb. 28, at home against Army. The trip to Virginia is next, before SU hosts Notre Dame at the Carrier Dome on March 11. Syracuse then takes to the road for two games against Hopkins and Princeton on March 27. It returns home to face Hobart on March 30.
Three of SU's five games in April are on the road. The swing starts with a contest at Brown on April 3. Loyola then visits the Dome on April 10, while the Cornell and Rutgers matches are slated to be away on April 13 and April 17, respectively.
The Orangemen will play Albany for the first time in school history at home on April 23. They will then entertain Massachusetts, a team that defeated them in overtime last season, on May 1.
The game against Georgetown will be held in Washington for the second consecutive year and marks the final regular-season contest on May 7.
The NCAA Tournament begins on May 15 and 16 at campus sites. The quarterfinals will be hosted by Virginia (May 22) and Cornell (May 23), while the championship will be contested at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore for the second-straight Memorial Day weekend.
Syracuse welcomes back eight starters from last year's 10-6 squad. The Orangemen kept their unparalleled streak alive at 21 consecutive appearances at NCAA Championship weekend.
