Freshmen Steven Brooks (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) and Evan Brady (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) of the Syracuse University men's lacrosse team spoke to children, ages 9-12, at Near East Side Adventures on Nov. 19. Â Near East Side Adventures is a division of Catholic Charities located on the corners of University Avenue and East Genesee Street in Syracuse, N.Y. Â
The two Orangemen participated in a program called Y.E.S.S. (Youth Engaged in Service for Success). Â The two components of Y.E.S.S. are a series of workshops intended to educate youth about various life issues and participation in community service projects. Â The workshop in which Brooks and Brady were a part of was called, "A Positive Outlook on the Future." Â They addressed how they became involved with intercollegiate athletics and shared some of the challenges and obstacles they have overcome in pursuit of their goals.
Brooks and Brady and the rest of the lacrosse Orangemen will play at home for the first time in a scrimmage against Navy on Feb. 14, 2004, at 4 p.m.
