SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Behind the highest goal total of the 2026 season, No. 8 Syracuse (9-3, 5-2 ACC) ran past No. 23 Pittsburgh (5-7, 2-6 ACC) 16-7 Saturday morning at the JMA Wireless Dome, extending the team's winning streak to nine.
Senior Coco Vandiver etched her name into the Syracuse record book in the win, recording her 102nd career caused turnover, the most by any player in program history.
Mackenzie Rich led the Orange with a career-high seven points, racking three goals with four assists. Rich scored on every shot she took on the day. Molly Guzik posted six points with four goals and two helpers while grabbing four draw controls. All told, 12 players scored at least one point on Saturday, including five multi-point getters.
Pittsburgh picked up four points on a goal and three assists from Avery Moon with Kaitlyn Giandonato contributing a hat trick. Molly Cain made five saves in her time in net for the Panthers.
Syracuse jumped on the Panthers early, scoring eight unanswered goals to start the game. Caroline Trinkaus opened up the scoring just one minute in, before Rich and Guzik scored minutes later to quickly open up a 3-0 lead.
Rich and Trinkaus each scored once more in the first while Joely Caramelli scored at the end of the quarter to push the lead to 6-0 after 15 minutes of play.Â
After nearly eight minutes without a goal in the second quarter, Alexa Vogelman and Mackenzie Borbi each logged goals to open up the lead to 8-0. Pittsburgh got on the board at the 3:41 mark of the second quarter, but Emma Muchnick and Guzik found the back of the net to close the half with a 10-1 advantage.
Guzik struck just over one minute into the second half to push the lead to 10.The Orange used goals by Caramelli, Mileena Cotter and Rich to push the lead to 15-2 at the end of three quarters.
The Orange coasted in the fourth, earning the 16-7 triumph.
It's a short turnaround for the Orange as they make the short trip to Ithaca for a Tuesday showdown at Cornell. Game time at Schoellkopf Field is slated for 7 p.m. on ESPN+. The Orange return to the JMA Wireless Dome on April 11 for a tripleheader day with men's lacrosse and the football spring game.Â
