Two Doubles Teams and One Singles Player Reach Semifinals at Dartmouth Invitational

Huignard defeated Katrin Fischer of Buffalo, 6-4, 3-6, 10-4, in the first round of Flight B competition. She defeated Andrea Disponzio of Siena, 6-4, 6-3, in the quarterfinals, before being eliminated by top-seed Aimee Charest of Boston University, 6-1, 6-1, in the semifinals.
In doubles, Juliussen and Leong defeated Kerry Snow and Sarah McNally of Dartmouth, 8-3, in the second round after receiving a bye in the first round. The pair defeated Charest and Gabbi Hernandez of Boston University, 8-1, in the quarterfinals, before losing to Klara Zrustova and Carolin Walter of Baylor, 8-5, in the semifinals.
Lipton and Huignard also received a bye in the first round of doubles competition, and defeated Ashley Hyotte and Preethi Mukundan of Harvard, 8-5, in the second round. In the quarterfinals, the duo defeated Katie Jaxheimer and Janis Hui of Dartmouth, 8-2. Lipton and Huignard lost to the Big Green's Lindsay Winingham and Ann Scott, 8-5, in the semifinals.
In other doubles action, freshman Kendyl Severino paired with Army's Amber McGarelick and lost to Erika Zielinski and Katrin Fischer of Buffalo, 8-1, in the first round. The duo lost to Kristen Ortman and Maggie Nenova of Buffalo, 8-3, in the consolation quarterfinals.
Severino defeated Betsy Brookins of Siena, 6-1, 6-2, in the first round of competition in the Flight B singles bracket. She was eliminiated by Megan Breen of New Hampshire, 6-1, 6-0, in the quarterfinals. Leong, the second-seeded player in Flight B singles, defeated Christine Bicksler of Army, 6-2, 6-2, in the first round before losing to eventual champion Lauren Leo of St. John's, 6-1, 3-6, 10-4 in the quarterfinals.
In Flight A singles, Lipton competed as the fourth seed. She nearly swept Kyle Erickson of UNH, 6-0, 6-1, and defeated Rankin Williams of Princeton, 6-1, 6-2. In the quarterfinals, Lipton was upset by eighth-seeded Lindsay Winingham of Dartmouth, 6-2, 6-3. Juliussen defeated Elisa Glas of Boston University, 3-6, 6-0, 10-5, in her first match, and upset fifth-seeded Sarah McNally of Dartmouth, 7-5, 6-1, in the second round. Juliussen lost to the third seed, Cindy Chu of Harvard, 6-3, 7-5, in the quarterfinals. Freshman Katie Bramante also competed in the Flight A singles bracket. She lost to sixth-seeded Klara Zrustova of Baylor, 6-3, 6-2, in the first round, but rebounded to sweep Zielinski, 6-0, 6-0, in the first round of consolation play. Bramante was eliminated by Kristina Bothova of St. John's, 2-6, 7-5, 10-6, in the consolation quarterfinals.
The Orangewomen have completed their fall tournament schedule. SU's first dual match of the spring will take place on Jan. 28 when Syracuse travels to Hamilton, N.Y., to take on Colgate at 6:00 p.m.
