
Volleyball Hosts Miami and Virginia Tech in Home Finale

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Orangewomen volleyball team (16-12, 3-5 BIG EAST) will take on BIG EAST foes Miami and Virginia Tech this weekend in SU's last two home matches of the season. Both matches will take place in the Women's Building on SU's campus, and admission is free.
The Orangewomen lost their first and only meeting with Miami last season, 30-26, 30-21, 30-24. Morgan Jones led the Orangewomen with 11 kills on 24 attempts with one error for match-high .417 attack percentage. Kelly Duan and Michaela Skelly each recorded 11 digs. Abby Van Mater posted a match-high six total blocks.
Syracuse has lost two of the three matches it has played against Virginia Tech. Last season, the Hokies were triumphant in three games, 30-15, 30-18, 30-24, in Blacksburg. In 2001, SU earned its only win of the series, 30-27, 30-25, 30-25, in a home contest. The first time the teams met was in 1993 at the Pitt Invitational. In that match, Tech was victorious, 15-4, 15-12, 15-9.
The Orangewomen take on the Hurricanes on Friday, Nov. 7, at 7:00 p.m., and face off against the Hokies on Sunday, Nov. 9, at 1:00 p.m. SU’s match against Miami will be televised on Time Warner Cable channel 26 on a tape delay basis beginning on Saturday, Nov. 8. On Sunday, the Orangewomen will be honoring seniors Christen Casey and Michaela Skelly as they play in the final home match of their careers.
