
Perry Named BIG EAST Co-Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -Syracuse junior guard Shannon Perry has been named BIG EAST Women's Basketball Co-Player of the Week. It is the second time this season that Perry has been honored by the conference (Dec. 9).
Perry is the first Orangewoman to win the BIG EAST Player of the Week Award twice in the same season since Chris Palombi in 1983-84.
Perry recorded her team-leading 12th double-double in SU's 66-58 victory versus Providence on February 19. Perry scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. She also had three assists and a steal in 40 minutes. For the season, Perry leads the team in scoring at 16.1 points per game and rebounding at 10.2 boards per contest. She is one of two players in the league to be averaging a double-double.
The third-year player made two free throws against the Friars to tie the Syracuse career record for made foul shots with 306. She is one of only three players in SU history to make at least 300 career free throws. Perry also ranks 10th on the Orangewomen's career rebounding chart with 619. She is the only player in Syracuse history with 600 career boards and 200 career assists.
Perry is on the verge of another milestone. She currently has 998 points, two shy of becoming the 16th Orangewoman record 1,000 career points. Perry would be the fifth junior to accomplish the feat.
Syracuse is 9-15 overall and 4-9 in the BIG EAST. The Orangewomen will travel to West Virginia to take on the Mountaineers at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26. SU's next home game is at 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 1 versus Pittsburgh.
