
USBWA Honors Anthony As Freshman Of The Year

Anthony’s list of accolaides includes BIG EAST Rookie of the Year, USBWA District II Player of the Year, All-USBWA District II Team, All-BIG EAST First Team and concensus BIG EAST All-Rookie Team. Anthony is SU's first National Freshman of the Year since Lawrence Moten received the distinction from Basketball Times and Basketball Weekly in 1992. Syracuse's last USBWA All-American was John Wallace who earned second-team honors in 1996. Other former Orangemen named to USBWA All-America teams include: Billy Owens (1st team, 1991), Derrick Coleman (1st team, 1990), Rony Seikaly (2nd team, 1988), Dwayne "Pearl" Washington (2nd team, 1985) and Roosevelt Mouie (1st team, 1980).
Anthony and #11 Syracuse (23-4, 13-3 BIG EAST) will play either Georgetown or Villanova in the BIG EAST Quarterfinals on Thursday, March 13, at 7:00 p.m.
