SYRACUSE, NY --Syracuse's national championship men's basketball team is scheduled to visit the White House to receive recognition from President Bush on Tuesday, June 17, according to Congressman Jim Walsh.
"I look forward to joining Coach Boeheim, his players, and staff at the White House to receive accolades from President Bush on their national championship season," said Walsh, in a release from his office. "The Orangemen deserve this recognition for their stellar performance, and I know the players and coaching staff will enjoy visiting with the President. It was a real joy to join Syracuse Lacrosse at the White House on two separate occasions after their championship wins."
Walsh indicated that the June 17th event will include NCAA champions from a variety of men's and women's winter sports. The Congressman also expects to host a reception at the U.S. Capitol to introduce the Orangemen to fellow Members of Congress and to present Coach Boeheim and players with copies of the House Resolution he sponsored honoring the team immediately after the win.
