Chris Liwski ‘02 Wins Gold With U.S. Eight At Pan Am Games

RINCON, Dominican Republic – Former Syracuse oarsman Chris Liwski ‘02 helped the U.S. eight to a gold medal at the Pan American Games on Sunday on Rincon Lake in Rincon, Dominican Republic.
The U.S. led from start to finish, crossing the line in 5:43.61, 2.52 seconds ahead of Canada. Cuba finished third in 5:47.23, followed by Brazil. It was the ninth medal for U.S. Rowing at the games.
The U.S. eight consisted of: Coxswain John Stillings (Edmonds, Wash.), Beau Hoopman (Plymouth, Wis.), Justin Bosley (Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich.), John Cranston (San Francisco, Calif.), Liwski, Paul Daniels (Burlington, Wis.), Andrew Brennan (Valley Forge, Pa.), Justin Jones (East Aurora, N.Y.), Dave Fredericks (Port Townsend, Wash.).
Liwski, a four-year letterwinner for the Orangeman, is now a law student at SU. The 2003 Orangemen open their season on Oct. 12 at the Stonehurst Invitational.
