Kentucky Snaps SU Volleyball's Win Streak, 3-1

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Kentucky volleyball team boasted three players with double-doubles as the Wildcats defeated Syracuse, 3-1, on the first day of the Kentucky Conference Challenge. UK defeated the Orange, 30-22, 30-27, 26-30, 30-27, breaking SU's six-match winning streak. Syracuse is now 7-2 on the season.

Melissa Popp had 18 kills and 11 digs; Liz McCaslin posted 10 kills and 11 digs; and Sarah Spinner recorded 17 kills and 20 digs for the Wildcats. Leigh Marcum notched 57 assists and seven digs.

Junior Morgan Jones led the Orangewomen with 14 kills on 26 attempts with three errors for a match-high .423 hitting percentage. She also had four block assists. Sophomore Kristen Conway had 12 kills and 39 attempts. Sophomore Kelly Duan recorded eight kills and a team-high 20 digs. Sophomore Katie Allen led the front-row defense with eight block assists. Sophomores Aila Dommestrup and Kathryn Dercher split setting duties, with Dommestrup recording 17 assists and Dercher posting 19.

The Orangewomen continue playing at Kentucky's tournament on Saturday when they take on Virginia at 10:00 a.m. and Wright State at 4:30 p.m.
