
Field Hockey Shuts Out Columbia, 4-0

Following a scoreless first half, Gettel tallied SU's first goal 1:07 into the second half. Junior Erin Fitzgerald put the Orange up 2-0 with 18:50 left in the game. Gettel notched her second goal with 6:30 on the clock, and junior Leah McKay iced the game with a score at 3:47.
The Orangewomen shot 19 balls at Columbia goalie Kristina George, who recorded six saves on the day. SU junior keeper Betsy Wagner did not have to make a stop to secure the second complete shutout of her career.
SU returns to action on Friday, Sept. 19, when it hosts Rutgers at 7:00 p.m. at Coyne Field. The game will mark the first BIG EAST action for both teams.
