SYRACUSE, NY -- The Syracuse men's basketball team, defending NCAA Champions, will be presented with its championship rings at halftime of the Syracuse-Louisville football game on Saturday, September 13. Kickoff that afternoon is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. in the Carrier Dome.
The 2002-03 Orangemen captured the program's first NCAA Championship with an exciting run through the tournament. Four consecutive wins put SU in the Final Four for the fourth time in school history and this time the Orange delivered a different ending -- the national championship. Syracuse defeated Kansas, 81-78, in the title tilt, and freshman sensation Carmelo Anthony was named the Final Four's Most Outstanding Player.
Coach Boeheim, his staff, and the squad will be presented their championship rings by SU Chancellor Kenneth Shaw and Director of Athletics Jake Crouthamel.
