SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Sophomore Devon Ackroyd of the men's swimming team is the Scholar-Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 12.

Ackroyd was named to the SU Athletic Director’s Honor Roll both semesters of his freshman year. He was a BIG EAST Academic All-Star in 2003. Last season, he competed at the BIG EAST Championship in the 400 individual medley, the 200 individual medley and the 200 breaststroke.

Ackroyd and the Syracuse swimming and diving team begin their dual season when they host West Virginia on Saturday, Jan. 17. The diving competition begins at 9:00 a.m. and the swimming events start at noon.
