SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse women’s tennis team begins its spring dual-match season on Wednesday, Jan. 28, at nearby Colgate University.

Last season, SU defeated the Raiders, 6-1. Syracuse won all but two of the nine matches, losing one at No. 3 doubles and the No. 1 singles matchup. The Raiders’ Marissa Alikpala, who defeated Syracuse’s Masha Kabanova, returns this year and will look for another win against SU on Wednesday. Senior Trine Lise Juliussen defeated Colgate returner Sheila Rao, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 4 singles last year, and sophomore Wei-Ming Leong recorded a 6-2, 6-3 win over current Raider senior Jessica Fede in 2003.

The Orangewomen will travel to the Hamilton for the match on Jan. 28. The first serve will be at 6:00 p.m. Syracuse’s first home dual meet will be on Saturday, Jan. 31, against Dartmouth at 1:00 p.m. at the Drumlins Tennis Courts.
