NEW YORK - College Sports Television and The BIG EAST Conference have entered into a new programming and marketing partnership which will result in unprecedented national television and internet coverage.
The partnership includes the first ever nationally televised BIG EAST women's basketball package, and the first live national telecast of BIG EAST championships such as baseball, softball, women's volleyball and men's and women's soccer. CSTV will also televise the BIG EAST's sports weekly highlight show nationally.
The CSTV-BIG EAST partnership will produce the most national television exposure for BIG EAST men's and women's sports, through a mix of event, studio and original programming on CSTV. Women's basketball teams, athletes and fans will be the first to experience the benefits of this new partnership, as CSTV will feature the first nationally broadcast BIG EAST women's basketball package. The season's televised schedule will include eight regular season games, in addition to six BIG EAST Women's Basketball Championship games including the quarterfinals and semifinals in March.
"The BIG EAST has proven itself year after year to be one of the premier athletic conferences for all men's and women's sports," said Brian Bedol, president and CEO, CSTV. "This agreement ensures that the BIG EAST will receive maximum multi-media exposure and that women's sports, including women's basketball, will have a new national platform."
The BIG EAST has already enjoyed exposure on CSTV via broadcast of both regular season and championship competitions. Early in CSTV's history, the network carried the conference's baseball (2003) and cross-country championships (2003), along with both men's and women's soccer in both '03 and '04, and regular season women's hoops.
In addition to being available nationally on DirecTV channel 610, College Sports TV is available via cable in numerous markets nationwide, including Boston (Boston College), New York (St. John's University, Seton Hall University and Rutgers University), Hartford (University of Connecticut), Syracuse (Syracuse University), Washington, D.C. (Georgetown University), Pittsburgh (University of Pittsburgh), South Florida (Miami and the University of South Florida), Milwaukee (Marquette University), Louisville (University of Louisville), Cincinnati (University of Cincinnati).
