Four Orange Field Hockey Student-Athletes Earn All-Region Honors

Seniors Brittany Carriero (Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville HS), Lindsay Kocher (Collingswood, N.J./Collingswood, HS) and Betsy Wagner (Cherry Hills, Colo./Colorado Academy) and junior Joanne Lombard (Ambler, Pa./Gwynedd Mercy Academy) of the SU field hockey team were named to the 2004 STX/NFHCA Division I All-Mideast Region Team. Carriero, Kocher and Wagner all earned a spot on the first team, while Lombard was selected to the second team.
Carriero and Kocher both received second-team All-BIG EAST accolades this year. Carriero was tied for second on the team in scoring with Lombard. Both players tallied 16 points, Lombard on eight goals, Carriero with six goals and four assists. Kocher was a starter on defense all four years and a two-time captain for the Orange.
Wagner was named the 2004 BIG EAST Conference Goalkeeper of the Year and selected to the All-BIG EAST First Team. She anchored the SU defense all season with her strong play in net, earning four shutouts and posting a 1.49 goals against average.
Lombard also earned first-team All-BIG EAST honors this season. This is the second All-Mideast Region selection for Lombard, who was selected to the first-team in 2003.
The Orange posted an overall record of 11-9. They finished second in the BIG EAST Conference with a 3-2 mark.
