Syracuse University has contracted the leading executive search firm of Spencer Stuart to aid the institution’s athletics director search committee in identifying a candidate to succeed the retiring Jake Crouthamel.
Crouthamel, who has headed SU’s athletics program since 1978, last week announced his impending retirement, effective June 30, 2005.
A representative from Spencer Stuart’s New York office will be on campus this week to meet with Chancellor Nancy Cantor and the search committee.
Maxwell School Senior Associate Dean Michael Wasylenko heads the search committee, which numbers 10 people (with the addition of an SU human resources representative).
The committee consists of the chair; an academic dean; a student-athlete; a student; two coaches; a representative from SU’s Office of Human Resources; and a representative each from three University divisions—Student Affairs; Institutional Advancement; and Business, Finance and Administrative Services (BFAS).
The committee will offer recommendations to Cantor and to a small committee of SU trustees.
Spencer Stuart is a privately held, global executive search firm with 50 offices in 25 countries. For more information, visit http://www.spencerstuart.com/.
