Zimmer Named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Senior Leigh-Ann Zimmer was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week for the third time in her career on Monday, March 1. Zimmer scored a career-high seven points in SU’s 14-13 upset win against No. 3 Virginia on Feb. 28.
Zimmer recorded a personal-best six goals against the Cavaliers and added an assist. She also finished the game with seven shots, two ground balls and one draw control. Zimmer ranks second on the Orangewomen’s career goals list with 125. She is two goals behind Katrina Hable, who owns the school record with 127 goals scored.
Zimmer has earned conference offensive player of the week accolades two other times in her career and she is the first Orangwoman to receive the honor since Monica Joines on March 30, 2003.
The Orangewomen square off against their second top-five opponent of 2004 when they meet No. 2 Maryland on Wednesday, March 3 at 7:00 p.m. in the Carrier Dome.
