Orangemen Set for Quarterfinal Match-Up Against Eagles

New York, NY - Sophomore guard Gerry McNamara tied the Syracuse University single-season three-point field goals record with two in the first half against Boston College in the quarterfinals of the BIG EAST Tournament. McNamara scored six of SU’s 32 first-half points, as the #19/23 Orangemen led the Eagles 32-23 at halftime. McNamara has 88 three-point field goals, which ties Preston Shumpert, who set the record in 2001-02.
Junior forward Hakim Warrick paced the Orangemen with nine points in the first half, while McNamara and junior Josh Pace each added six. Forward Demetris Nichols and center Craig Forth each added four point, as all five SU starters scored in the first half. Senior center Jeremy McNeil added four points in four minutes.
With SU leading by four, 21-17, with 6:32 remaining, the Orangemen put together a 9-2 run in just more than two minutes, to take an 11 point lead, 30-19, with 4:19 left in the first half. During the run, McNamara tied the three-point field goal record.
Boston College’s Craig Smith paced the Eagles with nine points in the first half.
