
Syracuse Prepares for Cornell and Yale

SYRCUSE, N.Y. -- The 15th-ranked Syracuse women’s rowing team will compete against No. 7 Yale and No. 16 Cornell on Cayuga Lake in Ithaca, N.Y. on Saturday, April 3.
The Orangewomen are coming off a victory against Duke and a loss versus Boston University in their first regatta of the spring season on March 27. SU’s varsity eight posted a time of 6:17.30. The Terriers won the competition, finishing the course in 6:12.47 and Duke finished third with a time of 6:21.90.
Syracuse’s varsity four “B” boat earned the Orangewomen’s only victory of the day, beating the Blue Devils and the Terriers with a time of 7:27.60 in the 2,000-meter race.
Cornell’s varsity eight lost twice to No. 12 Washington State on the first day Windermere Collegiate Crew Classic on March 27 at Redwood Shores, Calif. The Big Red also dropped a race to No. 2 California on Day 1. The Big Red scored its first win of the season against No. 17 Stanford on Day 2 of the competition.
Yale swept four races against Pennsylvania and Columbia on March 27 to win the Connell Cup. The Bulldogs won the varsity eight and varsity four competitions as well as both novice events.
SU’s varsity eight lost to Yale and Cornell last season. In 2002, the Orangewomen scored a win against Cornell, but lost to the Bulldogs by six seconds.
