Last season, Kennedy played in all 12 games for SU, primarily on special teams, including the PAT and field goal units, as well as the kickoff and kickoff return squads. He received SU’s Joe Szombathy Special Teams Outstanding Performer Award after leading the Orange in special teams tackles with 16. Kennedy finished his collegiate career with 18 total tackles and 29 carries for 131 yards. He scored his first career touchdown against Rhode Island in 2002.
Kennedy is one of five Orangemen in the NFL’s Class of 2004. Seniors Christian Ferrara, Johnnie Morant and Kevin Sampson were all drafted by NFL teams over the weekend, and Josh Thomas has agreed to contract terms with the Indianapolis Colts. At the conclusion of the 2003 NFL season, 27 former Syracuse University football student-athletes were on NFL rosters, including Brown, who appeared in one game last season for the Steelers.
